Thank you for being a member of OACCP. Now more than ever, the importance of OACCP and our advocacy on behalf of all of Ohio's child care providers cannot be understated.

With current restrictions in place, there is great concern that many centers will not be able to remain solvent, or to reopen at all. This would limit the availability of quality care in Ohio and impact our workforce and recovery efforts.

In addition to providers needing to reopen their businesses, our children need to return to the stability and safety of routines and practices at our centers for their social and emotional health. As parents return to the workforce, we do not want to even consider the consequences of children being placed in less than appropriate care situations, because our centers are still closed.

Currently, Ohio's decision-makers are outlining the steps to restore Ohio's economy. Pursuant to child care, our governor is determining how and when to return licensed programs to pre-covid group sizes. In addition, we are facing the possibility that, due to budget constraints, some early childhood funding could be reduced, such as programs that support Step-up-to-Quality.

In order to effectively advocate for a sooner-rather-than-later return to pre-covid licensure while at the same time educate our state legislators on the importance of funding for Step-up-to-Quality and related early education programs, we are asking at this time that members of OACCP contribute a minimum of $150 per site to develop a ‘Covid-19 Advocacy Fund.’ This fund would help cover additional marketing, media engagement, engaging/obtaining research, PR support and other costs necessary for this important messaging.

This one-time extra funding is desperately needed in order to engage the resources needed by our lobbying team, who time-and-time-again have gone to bat on behalf of all of Ohio's childcare providers, including securing the PFCC rate increases last year.

Thank you so much for your support!
